A recent quote by one of my favorite crazy politicians, Oklahoma Legislator Sally Kern:
“[There is] a group of homosexual millions who for years have been working secretly to change the society of America — the political side of America — so that there will be freedom and equality for everyone,” Kern warned at the “Wake Up, America!” conference earlier this month.
You may remember Ms Kern from a couple years ago when she stated:
“I honestly think [homosexuality is] the biggest threat our nation has, even more so than terrorism or Islam — which I think is a big threat, okay?” the fiercely conservative Kern insisted. “This stuff is deadly, and it’s spreading, and it will destroy our young people, it will destroy this nation.”
The fact that Ms Kerns is a homophobic bigot is bad enough, but what’s really a shame is that in her position of power and visibility, this is how she’s chosen to invest her time and influence.
Recently a reporter revisited her remark and asked how she felt now, over 2 years later. She indicated she still believed homosexuality was the biggest threat to the United States.
To which I’d say “Really, Sally? More than poverty, illiteracy, homelessness? More than unaffordable health care, stagnant retirement accounts and rampant unemployment? More than our mortgage to China and our inability (unwillingness) to educate our children by keeping our schools open 5 days a week? Really, Sally.”
I think the fine people of Oklahoma deserve better.
Today’s Gay Agenda: Drop a note to Sally. Thank her for living in Oklahoma and not North Dakota.
